DUBLIN PORT RALLY

A courtesy reminder for your members that this year’s Dublin Port Rally takes place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th September 2015 and once again we would very much welcome your vehicle(s) attendance on either, or preferably both, days.
This years event celebrates the 70th anniversary of the foundation of CIE in 1945, and we hope to have as many ex CIE vehicles there as possible. We have access to the site from Thursday 24th September and there will be 24 hour security on site should you wish to bring vehicles from that date
Some information for potential exhibitors:
LOCATION

The Rally site will be at the same location as last year on the Alexandra Road, Dublin Port. It will be well signposted and for first-timers, a map is available at http://www.dublinportrally.com/getting-there. The ground is fully tarmac’d so no fear of being bogged down !
ARRIVALS
We request that vehicles are in situ by 11.00 hrs at the latest as gates open to the public at noon. We have access to the site from Thursday 24th September and there will be 24 hour security on site should you wish to bring vehicles from that date – please advise us if this is the case and we can make arrangements.
On arrival you will be directed to your parking area, and once parked we ask that vehicle owners come to the Rally Control Bus to receive your pack which will contain :
  • Brief description of your vehicle for display in the windscreen
  • Refreshment Voucher
  • Rally attendance plaque
OVERNIGHTING
For those overnighting, we have arranged accommodation at competitive rates with the City North Hotel and a shuttle bus to the hotel will be provided. The link to the hotel is also provided at http://www.dublinportrally.com/ for those who want to book.

If you have a camper van, you may avail of overnight services at the 24-hour Topaz Service Station approx 1km from the Rally location

We will also be providing a Banger Barbeque for entrants from approx 19.00-21.00 on site so enthusiasts can meet socially. There is no charge for those bringing a vehicle.
DEPARTURES

The event officially concludes at 18.00 on Sunday 27th September, however we would like to hold a road run around the Port from 17.00  and attempt to recreate a “vintage scene” using vehicles up to 1970 vintage for photographers on Alexandra Road at that stage. Your participation would be appreciated. Vehicles may be removed from the site up to 19.00 on Monday 28th September if that suits you better. Again, 24-hour security will be provided up to that stage.
MINISTERIAL LAUNCH

The Minister for Transport, Paschal Donoghue TD has graciously accepted our invitation to officially open the event and this will take place at 13.00 on Saturday 26th September. At this launch the Minister will unveil a very recently restored CIE half-cab bus, the restoration of which is being kindly supported by Brennan’s Bread, and whose period adverts it will carry. We are hopeful that the Minister may update enthusiasts on the current state of play regarding a derogation in the full DoE Test requirements for vintage vehicles.
DUBLIN PORT

We are as ever very grateful to Dublin Port for their active support in providing the venue for the Dublin Port Rally and look forward to seeing you there !

If you know of potential exhibitors who have not yet entered a vehicle, please remind them to do so

Kind regards

Ed O’Neill
