THE KILGARVAN MOTOR MUSEUM has been open since 1985, but we began collecting and restoring over 20 years ago as a hobby. During this period visitors from all over the world have visited us, many of them bring their own vintage or classic cars. |
At Kilgarvan the enthusiast can see the cars from all angles as our cars are not roped off. You can look into them, get the smell of the old leather and wood. If you are interested in any of the engines we will show them to you. Most of the cars on show are used during the year for rallies, shows etc., so these old cars have a nice lived-in feel to them. | ![]() |

Dear Sir/Madam.
My name is William Binions and I live near Bunclody in north Co Wexford. I am currently researching early motoring in Ireland covering the period 1900- 1918. Of particular interest to me is compiling a photographic record of motor cars owned by prominent Irish motorists of this period.
From what I’ve read the Marquis of Waterford in this period was a keen motorist and had the first registered car in Waterford county.
I was wondering is there any photographs of the cars he owned during this period? i have information suggesting that the firm of William Peare of Catherine street. Waterford city supplied the marquis of Waterford a 35 hp gladiator car in 1908.
Any help in tracking down copies(of photos) of these cars would be greatly appreciated,
Your Sincerely,
William Binions
